Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
**PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ASKING ALL PATIENTS ON MEDICATION TO NOMINATE A PHARMACY FOR THEIR PRESCRIPTION TO BE SENT TO ELECTRONICALLY.**
Medications which you take regularly will probably be on your repeat prescription list. These can be ordered regularly without seeing the GP to prescribe. There are several ways to order repeat prescriptions.
Please note that we require 48hrs to process repeat prescription requests.
As part of our commitment to safe prescribing and the responsible use of the NHS’s limited funds, Parkside Surgery is working in conjunction with East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (EL CCG) and Medicines Management Team to improve patient experience and efficient use of NHS resources with the repeat prescription ordering process.
Your local pharmacist is not authorised to order medicines or repeat prescriptions on your behalf. You can do this yourself, however, in a variety of ways listed below.
Using your NHS account
You can order a repeat prescription through your NHS account on the NHS App or NHS website.
You can nominate a pharmacy for your GP to send your prescriptions to. Your nominated pharmacy may be able to deliver your medicine to you or let you know when it’s ready to collect.
Speak to your local pharmacy to find out what they offer.
To use an NHS account, you need to have an NHS login.
ONLINE
Patient Access allows you to order repeat medications as well as book and cancel appointments online, to register visit patientaccess.com. Please note this service is not available for patients who are under 16 years. (Please contact the surgery for alternative ordering options)
IN PERSON
Call into the surgery and drop off your prescription request in our prescription ordering box in reception.
BY POST
Request repeat prescriptions by post or drop it through our letter box out of hours.
OVER 75’s OR HOUSEBOUND
We do not take prescription requests over the telephone, except where a patient is over the age of 75 or housebound. Requests by telephone can only be made between 1.00pm – 3.00pm Monday to Friday. For this you will need to ring the script ordering line on 01282 500666

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All prescriptions should be available after two working days after 3.30pm, please ensure you allow this time for your request to be processed.

Dispensary
Living in a rural area we are able to offer dispensing services to all our patients who live more than one mile from a chemist.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications a notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow 3 whole working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
